UnlockDoctor is a website that offers iCloud removal services online. This company is not affiliated with Apple Inc., but they claim to be able to safely clear IMEI locks and remove the iCloud activation lock screen from all iPhones; that’s why we have tried them out and checked if what they advertise on their online platform is true. We invite you to check this review and see what we’ve investigated to have more realistic expectations before actually getting tangled up with this service.
How does UnlockDoctor’s Activation Lock Removal Tool Work?
To remove an iCloud activation lock from your iPhone you need to visit their website and click on the “iCloud Unlock” button on the top-right corner of the page, after that it is necessary to enter the iPhone’s IMEI number (or serial number if the locked handset is not a cellular device like an Apple Watch or an iPad) to then click on “Unlock Now!” and start the process. After the process is started you need to wait up to three days to receive an unlock code that is supposed to remove the lock.
When we tried to complete the process, the service was not available, we tried with different Apple devices during the past two weeks but still, we only saw an error message after submitting the request. As you can see on the screenshot below, they stated their service was not available at the time and asked us to fill out a form with our information for them to contact us back; in this form, we were asked to enter the name of the carrier to which our iPhone was locked to as if we were trying to remove a blacklist report when we were trying to iCloud unlock a device, and in addition, we were never contacted back.
Even though the service didn’t work with us, we got to investigate why was UnlockDoctor’s website mentioning an unlock code — because if you are trying to remove the iCloud lock from an iPhone you should receive temporary iCloud credentials to access the device and be able to eliminate the old iCloud account from it —, and turns out this unlock is only a temporary bypass that will not fully remove the lock (it is designed to pass round the activation security measure without deactivating it), which means that you don’t have full access to all the device’s features and that the lock can be activated again for actions as normal as restarting the iPhone.
UnlockDoctor’s Prices and Timeframes
As we were mentioning, UnlockDoctor takes up to 3 business days to provide their unlock code, and they establish the price of $28 per unlocked device. Now, talking about the timeframes, a lot of customers have complained because of delays in the unlock code delivery, some have reported having had to wait up to 1 week to receive the unlock code, and others have reported having waited the three corresponding days to receive an email saying that it was not possible to remove the iCloud account from their device.
In addition, even though they advertise a basic fare of $28, they don’t mention the number of additional fees that they charge. Basically, to unlock a device with UnlockDoctor you have to be prepared to pay double the initial fare (more than $100 if you want a “premium” unlock) to get an unlock that is not permanent and that according to most reviews in TrustPilot, is not well explained —and with processes like an iCloud unlock, having clear instructions is key because not every user has the technical experience to guide themselves—.
UnlockDoctor’s Customer Service
Taking into account that as we were mentioning before, the unlock is not properly explained, counting on a good customer support department is very important (not only to guide customers through the process which is already very important but to handle refund requests and system issues/downtimes). However, as you can see on the customer review taken from Trustpilot and some other comments on the same platform, UnlockDoctor’s technical support and customer service team are never available (and some people have a really hard time when asking to get their money back).
Is UnlockDoctor’s iCloud Removal Service Legit?
A lot of platforms like ScamAdviser do not recommend this site and label the company as a possible scam, and along with the high amounts of negative reviews in Trustpilot, it seems like this iCloud unlocking platform is not safe to use.
Also, taking into account that this website does not offer an iCloud activation lock removal as they claim on their website, that the platform doesn’t even take your order when you place it, and the high amount of people being charged but not receiving the corresponding unlock, we would say this site is not legit and it is not recommendable to enter any of your information there — previous users have complained about unauthorized charges and pending refunds that at the end they have to dispute with their bank —.
What we would recommend at this point is to take advantage of other online unlocking tools, this is neither the only company that offers this kind of service nor the best one.
